You may have received an email from Microsoft last week in relation to expiring Microsoft-led GDAP permissions.
With Microsoft transitioning from DAP to GDAP, Microsoft-led GDAP permissions were created last year, with a majority of them expiring August 2-3. The permissions which were set up as part of this migration start with MLT_ in their name (Microsoft Led Transition).
As stated in the email that you have received from Microsoft, this is a relationship between Dicker Data and the Customer.
Dicker Data requires these GDAP permissions to be able to raise tickets to Microsoft on yours’ and your customer’s behalf.
You do not have to create a new Admin Relationship for this customer if you do not want to at this time. This would only be required if you need Dicker Data to raise a ticket to Microsoft for an issue on your behalf.
However, there can be a downside to not having an active GDAP role assigned to Dicker Data. If there is no GDAP Admin Relationship existing between Dicker Data and the customer, and all GAs were to lose access to the tenancy, there would be no way to generate a request and accept it. This means we would not be able to raise a ticket to get it unlocked.
Dicker Data only requires the most basic access of Support Analyst to be able to help the customer, and it would be best practice to have an active GDAP role assigned. You can choose the length of time of the relationship from 7-days up to 180-days. By selecting 180-days, you would only need to create a new GDAP role every 6 months.
It is up to you whether you wish to have an active GDAP Admin Relationship or create one when required.
GDAP Roles – How to add
- Please log into the Dicker Data Portal, access the tenancy, click on Tenant Management.
- Select the admin relationship and days, then click on Create.
- After clicking on Create, this will then create a link that needs to be sent to the GA for the tenancy to accept (it is best to open this in an incognito window).
- Once accepted, it will show under Tenant Management.
