Microsoft has introduced a new feature in public preview: customer-managed planned failover for Azure Storage. This feature allows users to initiate a failover of their storage accounts while maintaining geo-redundancy, ensuring no data loss and incurring no additional costs.
With planned failover, users can swap their primary and secondary endpoints, making the previously secondary region the new primary region. This feature is particularly useful for disaster recovery testing, proactive disaster management, and recovering from non-storage related outages.
By providing this capability, Microsoft aims to enhance disaster recovery options and ensure business continuity for Azure Storage users. Click here to learn more about planned failover.
