Helping Partners Power Voice in Microsoft Teams and Beyond

If you’re working with Dicker Data today, chances are you’re already delivering the core of your customers’ IT environment. Microsoft, cloud, devices, security, managed services, that’s now standard work for most partners.

But here’s something I keep seeing. A lot of those projects stop just short of communications.

You roll out Teams, but calling stays somewhere else. You modernise the workplace, but voice is handled separately. You manage the environment, but another provider still owns a critical piece of it.

That gap matters more than it used to.

Voice isn’t just telephony anymore. It sits inside collaboration platforms, links into customer engagement workflows, and increasingly shapes how organisations engage internally and externally day to day. When partners aren’t part of that layer, they’re delivering most of the solution but not the full outcome.

That’s a big part of why we’re making a strategic expansion of Dicker Data’s Telco Business Unit.

This Isn’t About Adding Telco for the Sake of It

From my perspective, this is really about helping partners get more value out of the work they’re already doing.

A Teams rollout with calling attached becomes a complete communications platform.  A cloud project with voice or contact centre capability built in becomes a long-term services play.  Adding user enablement means the customer actually adopts what you’ve deployed.

None of that requires you to go hunting for completely new opportunities. They are already sitting inside your customer base.

So, Why Expand Now?

Because the market has shifted.

A few years ago, voice was hard to standardise. Vendor options were limited, commercial models were messy, and most partners quite reasonably didn’t want to become telco specialists just to support a few customers.

The goal isn’t to make partners into telco experts. The goal is to make it easier for you to bring communications into the solutions you already deliver.

Why This Matters for Partners

Across the channel, customers increasingly want one partner who can take responsibility for the whole environment, not multiple providers each owning a slice of it.

Partners who can bundle collaboration, calling, connectivity and support together tend to build stronger relationships, stickier accounts, and more predictable recurring revenue.

Our role is simply to make that easier to execute.

The Bottom Line

Voice is moving to the centre of the IT stack.

By expanding our Telco Business Unit to include voice, we’re giving partners a clearer path to bring communications into their offering, complete the solutions they already sell, and stay right at the centre of their customers’ technology decisions.
