Before the interview even started, Haythim had already taken me on a rapid-fire tour of his world, surfing at sunrise, competing in tennis, playing guitar and diving deep into PC games most of us have never heard of. Oh, and he studied nanotechnology, just to round things out. As one of our Inside Sales Account Managers at Dicker Data, Haythim brings that same energy and curiosity to everything he does.
"I've always loved technology. I'm a gamer, I love PCs, and I’ve always enjoyed tinkering with tech and talking in technical jargon. People who know me can tell I genuinely enjoy what I do. That passion naturally led me into sales, where I get to talk tech, learn constantly, and work with businesses to bring real value. For me, this is the dream, combining what I love with helping others through technology."
Haythim’s career path is as diverse as his interests. He started out in a chemical lab before moving into IT support and engineering roles across industries like agriculture, mining and dental tech. But joining Dicker Data marked a turning point, it’s the largest and most dynamic environment he’s worked in.
"The scale is incredible. What really stands out is the culture, there’s no rigid hierarchy. It’s an open-plan office where everyone, from account managers to senior leaders, sits together and collaborates. It feels like a round table, like King Arthur’s court everyone’s equal, approachable and working toward the same goals. Even with the pressure it’s rewarding because we achieve great things together. That’s what makes working here so special."
Now part of a strong commercial Inside sales team, Haythim plays a key role in delivering fast, reliable and thoughtful support to our partners and customers.
"We always listen and we never leave a customer hanging. Even when requests take time, we do everything we can to respond quickly and get them the numbers or pricing they need. Our goal is to make sure customers are never out of pocket, we aim to deliver the best possible outcome every time. Our team is constantly self-training, supporting each other, and staying connected. And when it comes to our customers, we don’t treat them like strangers. We build real relationships.”
Haythim’s motto in life is short and sweet.
“Inspire before you expire.”
And he certainly lives by it. Outside of work, Haythim is full of surprises.
"I used to surf a lot, I also play tennis and even competed a bit, and I play guitar when I get the chance. I love travelling too. I’m a big PC gamer, anti-console. I just think if you’re going to spend money on a machine, it should do more than just play games. Oh, and I studied nanotechnology at uni - Bachelor of Science - then did a postgrad certificate in IT. So yeah, a bit of a mix!"
