In recent years, cloud computing has become increasingly popular amongst businesses of all sizes. With the ability to store and access data and applications from anywhere in the world, cloud computing offers a level of flexibility and scalability that traditional on-premises solutions cannot match. One of the leading cloud computing platforms is Microsoft Azure, which offers a wide range of services and benefits to businesses looking to migrate their IT infrastructure to the cloud.

One of the recent changes that Microsoft has made to its Azure licensing benefits is the waiving of certain costs for customers who have purchased Windows Server Datacentre & Software Assurance together. Specifically, these customers will no longer have to pay the following fees:

  • Azure Stack HCI host: Previously, customers had to pay $10 per physical core/per month to use Azure Stack HCI. With the recent changes to Microsoft Azure licensing, this fee is now waived, meaning that businesses can save money and benefit from the flexibility and scalability of Azure Stack HCI without incurring additional costs.
  • Windows Server unlimited virtualisation on Azure Stack HCI: Previously, customers had to pay $23 per physical core/per month to use Windows Server unlimited virtualisation on Azure Stack HCI. With the recent changes to Microsoft Azure licensing, this fee is now also waived, meaning that businesses can run as many virtual machines as they need on Azure Stack HCI without incurring additional costs.
  • Azure Kubernetes Service on Windows Server/Azure Stack HCI: Previously, customers had to pay $0.80 per virtual core per day to use Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) on Windows Server/Azure Stack HCI. With the recent changes to Microsoft Azure licensing, this fee is now also waived, meaning that businesses can benefit from the power and flexibility of AKS without incurring additional costs.

These changes to Microsoft Azure licensing offer significant benefits to businesses of all sizes. By waiving these fees, Microsoft is making it easier and more affordable for businesses to migrate their IT infrastructure to the cloud and leverage the myriad of opportunities that cloud computing facilitates. With the flexibility and scalability of Azure Stack HCI, businesses can run virtualised workloads on-premises and in the cloud, giving them the ability to scale up or down as needed without incurring additional costs. And with the power and flexibility of AKS, businesses can easily deploy and manage containerised applications on Windows Server or Azure Stack HCI.

To conclude, it’s evident that the recent pricing changes to Microsoft Azure licensing are a significant step forward for both businesses looking to migrate their IT infrastructure to the cloud and for those looking to save cost. Whether you're a small business looking to streamline your IT infrastructure or a large enterprise looking to take advantage of the latest cloud technologies, Microsoft Azure offers a wide range of services and benefits to help you achieve your goals.
