How it Works
Donate Your Device
Devices are received and evaluated.

Devices are Tested & Refurbished
Devices that pass specification and function checks have their data securely destroyed and erased before they are re-imaged with either Windows 11 or Chrome OS. If needed and viable, batteries may be replaced to extend usability.

Devices are Redistributed
Refurbished devices are redistributed via the National Device Bank to those in need.

Impact Report
Where possible, donors receive an impact report showing how their device made a difference.

Frequently Asked Questions
Digital inclusion refers to activities required to enable individuals or groups to enjoy the benefits of being online, and have access to technology to improve their day-to-day lives. Digital exclusion is the lack of access to technology resources which reinforces disadvantages in education, and leaves people isolated. WorkVentures bridges the digital divide by providing access to pre-owned technology to not-for-profits and disadvantaged communities, with a focus on helping vulnerable Australians become and remain digitally connected. By providing access to connectivity, affordable devices, and digital literacy skills, WorkVentures combats digital exclusion either directly or via partner organisations such as The Smith Family, Anglicare, and the GO Foundation.
By collaborating with corporate partners, WorkVentures enable individuals and not-for-profits to gain access to affordable, reliable IT solutions and ongoing technical support. Participating in the Device Donation Program will enable organisations to enhance their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) credibility. The program empowers organisations to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a powerful social initiative by choosing a sustainable option for their end-of-life assets.
Check that your donatable device(s) fit the below criteria:
• 5th Generation i5 or higher
• Undamaged and in usable condition
• Power supply preferably included
To prep the donated devices for distribution to the not-for-profit organisations, WorkVentures will undertake the below:
• Clean and sanitise the devices
• Secure data wiping with certificates provided to the donating organisation
• Load new licensing onto wiped devices, either Windows 11 or Chrome OS.
• Provide the laptops to the not-for-profit with 6 months of free technical support.
Where possible, WorkVentures can provide Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reports to include corporate social responsibility reporting.
Electronic waste, also known as e-waste, is the fastest-growing element in landfill with the number of devices disposed rising year after year. WorkVentures plays a significant part in Australia’s transition to a circular economy through the repair, refurbishment, and responsible recycling of technology. By breathing new life into a recycled device, WorkVentures makes technology accessible to those that would otherwise be digitally excluded.
