Meet the Team: David Haris - Senior Business Development Manager - Telco

When David’s not on the court or chasing after his kids, he’s building smart, scalable telco solutions for Dicker Data partners. With over seven years at Dicker Data, he’s played a key role in launching our Telco Business Unit, bringing deep expertise in networking and solution selling to his role as Senior Business Development Manager. 

“I studied Computer Technology with a focus on networking, which led me to IBM for seven years in presales support. I gained solid experience working with senior architects and major accounts. When seeking my next challenge, my networking background took me towards the telecommunications sector. I spent 5 years gaining an understanding of telecommunications from within a provider before moving into distribution, where I’ve found my place!” 

At Dicker Data, David’s day-to-day is all about enabling partners and resellers to unlock the full potential of our telco offerings. 

“As a Business Development Manager for Telco Solutions in the Services division, I’ve spent seven years helping partners and resellers leverage Telco products. With the refreshed Dicker Data Telco Solutions unit now including multi-vendor options, I continue to apply my telco and solution selling expertise to deliver even greater value to our partners and their customers.” 

David thrives on collaboration both internally and with our partners. 

“Working with our new vendors over the past few months, I’ve really appreciated their agility and customer-first mindset. Their flexible commercial models and delivery methods make it easy for partners to adopt and resell their solutions. It’s a transparent, consultative experience that adds real value for customers.” 

The team’s recent pivot to a multi-vendor model has sparked excitement across the channel. 

“The pivot away from a single provider model has surprised some managed service providers but in a good way. Many have told us they were waiting for this move and are now keen to explore broader, whole-of-business opportunities with us. With multiple supplier relationships now in place, including Optus and Vocus, our telco solutions offering is more well-rounded than ever. Not every reseller is ready to consume all our offerings, and this is the strength in having a flexible, growing catalogue that can grow and work with your business at any level of its Telco journey. Partners are already engaging with us to explore new options, especially where our solutions fill gaps in their current offerings.” 

For MSPs looking to grow, David sees Dicker Data’s Telco Solutions as a smart, scalable opportunity. 

“To maximise the telco opportunity, MSPs should leverage their role as trusted advisors. While they often support multiple customer needs, they don’t always monetise every interaction. Dicker Data’s Telco Solutions gives them a way to offer end-to-end telco services without needing to invest in extra staff or manage supplier relationships directly. It’s a low-risk, high-value model where MSPs can not only earn revenue, but enhance their brand, and strengthen customer loyalty by keeping competitors out.” 

His advice for anyone in the industry? 

“Stick to what you’re good at and give it your all. Every industry has its ups and downs, but if you stay committed and consistently deliver your best, people will notice and the rewards will follow.” 

When he’s not helping partners grow their telco business, David’s all about family and fun. 

“Outside of work, I love spending time with my two kids, whether it’s tennis lessons, swimming, or just having fun at home. My youngest and I both enjoy building Lego together, which has become a great way to connect. I also play tennis myself, so that’s where a lot of my energy goes when I’m not working.”
